Matcha Powder Tea Could be Your Magic Coffee Alternative.

Bright Green Matcha Looks Great

You might have been seeing matcha powder online a lot lately, especially on social media. The bright colour of the Matcha Powder looks great in photos – but it is also incredibly healthy for you! The vivid green powder is not just aesthetically pleasing though. Through grinding green tea leaves in a very fine powder, 12th century Chinese tea makers discovered the strong range of health benefits in matcha tea. It is also instantly recognisable from its distinct and bright, vibrant green colour. In recent years, matcha has found fame on social media as a tasty addition to lattes and desserts, but it is also one of the healthiest members of the tea family.

Matcha Tea Dates Back to Ancient China

The history of green tea (of which matcha powder tea is a derivative) goes back to 8th century China. The method of making powdered tea from steam-prepared dried tea leaves became popular in 12th century. Around this time, a Buddhist monk, Myoan Eisai brought the tea to Japan. It quickly became popular and eventually it became the basis of the popular tea ceremonies in Japan.

The Health Benefits of Matcha Tea are Unsurpassed

Matcha powder contains a large number of antioxidants, and also requires very little processing. Due to its powdered nature, you consume all of the goodness the plant has to offer. It’s counterpart, green tea, however, is simply steeped in water and then discarded. In other words, matcha is an excellent way to give your body a healthy dose of antioxidant goodness. Matcha powder tea also contains more caffeine than regular black tea, which makes it an excellent healthy alternative to coffee, particularly if you need that extra boost to get through the day.

This powerful tea also includes L-theanine (an amino acid that is believed to reduce stress over time). Yep – Magic Matcha certainly does pack a punch!
